SAE (the Society of Automotive Engineers) has issued a document, ARP5316, that specifically addresses the general requirements for data recording procedures, packaging, and storage of aerospace elastomeric seals. This document was created to address the confusion in the industry concerning proper storage, shelf life expectancies, and traceability of elastomeric materials. Wencor West has adopted the guidelines put forth in this document to control its elastomeric seals.
