What are FAA PMA Parts?

Parts Manufacturer Approval (PMA)

FAA-PMA is a method that allows qualified sources that are not the original type certificate holder to design and manufacture replacement parts for commercial aircraft.

The FAA (Federal Aviation Administration), specifically the ACO (Aircraft Certification Office) of the FAA, is responsible for approving any part design related to commercial aircraft. An OEM is subject to the same regulations to qualify and validate parts as a PMA holder is. An OEM does not approve its own parts.

Wencor designs, manufactures, inspects, and tests its PMA parts to insure that they are equal or superior to the OEM equivalent.

In many cases Wencor has an advantage with its PMA parts. By working with the FAA and aircraft operators, Wencor can design parts that improve upon known service issues. These improved designs can lead to reduced operating costs for Wencors customers.
