Air New Zealand Awards Major Contract to Wencor Inc.
SPRINGVILLE, Utah - September 19, 2007 - Air New Zealand Technical Operations has awarded a $5 million (NZ) long-term supply agreement to Wencor for the provision of expendable aircraft parts. The agreement includes Wencor's Dixie Aerospace division as well.
The contract covers 5,000 part numbers routinely used in maintenance operations. Air New Zealand Materials Services Manager Jim Campbell said this contract is a significant expansion of the current vendor rationalization program. "Wencor is now a key strategic supply chain partner for Air New Zealand … This agreement now makes Wencor a significant regional player, with facilities and inventories readily available to meet our needs," he said. "They have displayed real insight into our strategic objectives and have had an immediate impact in reducing our operating costs." Campbell went on to say that his company has removed more than 400 vendors from their offshore supply chain, in favor of a handful of strategic supply agreements of this type. Steve Johnson, Vice President of the Asia Pacific region for Wencor, said that he is looking forward to building this relationship with Air New Zealand. |
